I need my back cracked!” was the reason I thought most people went to see a chiropractor before I became one myself.

Since then I’ve learned chiropractic isn’t there to fix a problem, but like exercise, is used to facilitate the healing process.

My first experience with a chiropractor was when I thought I needed something fixed. I was in pain and was prescribed some pretty nasty drugs to suppress the symptoms. I went to the chiropractor because I had tried everything else. He diagnosed and explained my condition just the same as every other doctor I had seen prior, but instead of prescribing me more drugs he placed his hands on my back and neck and gave me my first adjustment. I was skeptical, but his explanation made sense. He said he was going to remove nervous system interference and stimulate my body to do what it had naturally evolved to do, heal itself. I felt relief immediately after the adjustment and twenty minutes later I felt much better.

The experience was great!

Then I noticed something. The patients he had in his practice were happy, looked healthy, and enjoyed being there. This was much different than the other offices I had visited. The chiropractor was helping people live life better. What other career could offer a better reward? After some research I learned chiropractic can do so much more than just help with musculoskeletal aches and pains. I chose chiropractic as a career not long after, get adjusted weekly and have been pain free ever since. I now wish to share that experience with everyone I can.

Before my chiropractic experience I worked the summers on drilling rigs around Alberta. My great family and hard work supported me through my first degree at the University of Alberta. My primary focus was in biology, specifically neuroscience. It was there that I learned of the checks and balances the body so easily uses to take care of itself. We can punish ourselves and the body lives on. I learned how much the medical profession has done at explaining how we work. I also learned how we have only scratched the surface to understanding the nature of human health.

My chiropractic journey

Chiropractic and traditional medicine have different roles to play in society. Each system must be understood and utilized appropriately. The wellness model in which chiropractic care fits nicely, sees the body as an ecosystem of cells that work together through the nervous system to self heal and self regulate. Through adjustments and coaching the chiropractor seeks to maintain health and wellness by encouraging the body to continue to heal itself. Both systems are needed but where would you rather be?

I chose to go to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. Founded by D.D. Palmer, a Canadian, Palmer College has over one hundred years of experience teaching and developing the art, science and philosophy of chiropractic. Four years later, full of knowledge on the human frame and missing my home, I graduated with the intention to bring the simplicity of wellness care to the community of Calgary.

At our practice I believe in the power of the body to self regulate and that true health is a choice. My philosophy is to guide you to achieve better health. The goal is better health and improvements of symptoms are just natural side effects!

Outside of the Office

I live and play in Calgary. I enjoy biking and rollerblading in the summer and volunteer for ski patrol in the winter. My wife Natalie is also from Calgary and works as a teacher. Her passion and moral grounds drives me to be a better person every day. We met way back in playschool. She was my first friend and is now my best friend. We both love Calgary and chose professions that allow us to serve and help our fellow neighbors. We enjoy raising our family with our yappy, but loving, dog Mia.
